Kicking the Flu to the Curb and Doing the Happy Dance

I was in bed all of last week, sidelined by that ridiculous unwanted visitor, the flu. One of the worst cases I've had in my young years. No joke.
Anywho, I'm on the mend and claiming a happier vibe this week.
What better than Pharrell's killer song, Happy, to get me stepping right?
Cheers to a happy and healthy week to y'all.

2013 - Year of the Snake

So according to the Chinese Zodiac, 2013 is the Year of the Snake. That being said, it seems like the snakeskin trend of 2012 might be slithering around just a little bit longer. Hence, it's only fair that we start off 2013 with a nod to the snake.

But hands down my favorite snakeskin treat.....is this Brian Atwood color block snakeskin pump. Hey Niks, my birthday is around the corner..hint..hint. And, yes it's still November..and?

Whatever name gets attached to Year 2013, whatever trends come and go, may 2013 bring you the greatest joys and amazing growth.

Our First Giveaway

Happy Monday peeps. Hope everyone had an amazing weekend filled with lots of some fun and frolic.
Today we're hosting our very first giveaway. I know, stop the presses! We're doing a lot this year no?
Any who, as most of you know, this blog is an offshoot of my design biz Nicole White Designs. This year I also launched the NWD online shop chock full of goodies. The store has been a sponsor over at Mix and Chic, the fabulous blog created by the very amazing and talented Jessie.

Sponsors

As we wrap up that sponsorship at the end of the month, I felt it was time to give away a few goodies. Two winners will be selected. Each winner can pick one item in the shop with a value of $80 and under.
There are rules of course! For starters, you must be a follower via Google Friend Connect and Facebook of both LLD and Mix and Chic
Head on over to Jessie's blog for all the juicy details. The winner will be announced on Thursday, November 22, quite the Thanksgiving treat!
Good luck to everyone!

Let There Be Oxblood

We're still burning up here in Miami, still rocking our flip flops and all white everything, but we're not immune to all the chatter of Fall. I mean, it's everywhere, in particular the newly ordained Fall trend color: oxblood or to the uninitiated, burgundy aka maroon. *Side note - somebody out there makes a killing each year renaming names.
Anywho, oxblood is all over the runway - in jackets, dresses, lipstick, nails, boots, you name it, it's been saturated in said hue.
If it's trending in fashion then of course this color will be popping up in homes across America - via pillows, throws, leather chairs, candles, bedding.

Fall Color Trend: Oxblood

We're on the fence over here on LLD. It's a pretty deep color to incorporate in a warm region, but maybe we can give a nod to a few pieces if used sparingly.  Are you jumping on the oxblood band wagon or you already crying next? Is this a color you can see incorporating in your wardrobe or home decor? Or are you like us and giving it some love but only in small doses?

Blue Me Away

OMG!
Can you believe we are now just 90 days away from 2013?
Jeez, where did the time go?
Anywho, I hope you all had a great weekend. Believe it or not, the weather Gods finally smiled on us this weekend with some glorious sizzling sunshine, so I it felt only fitting to share my blue skies joy with you.  And what better way to do that than being inspired by amazing rooms decorated in glorious blues.
It's hard to have the Monday blues when these blue rooms look this fab. Which is your fave? I'll chime in with my pick later. Have a great week.

The Shades Of Fall

Since we live in South Florida, it's kinda hard to get excited about the pleasures of Fall. But if a season change would get rid of all this annoying rain that poured all weekend - I would gladly do cartwheels and whip out a cashmere sweater.
Our weather issues aside, it's still easy for us to get excited about designs that highlights the subtle shades of Fall.  Take a peek and get inspired.

A Kaleidoscopic Feast for the Eyes

After a disgustingly rainy week, I was ecstatic that the sun shined all weekend. I really didn't do much this weekend but sometimes awesome weather, and great friends, can do wonders for the soul.
It's the same feeling I got the moment I saw pictures of Bradford Shellhammer's house, it was love at first sight. His use of color is not only smart and harmonious, but downright breathtaking.
Now, I would be lying if I didn't admit that the thought of living with this much color would scare the bejesus out of me. But something about these images bellows to my adventurous side, urging me to step out of my comfort zone and embrace that colorful side. Take a look and you'll see exactly what I mean.

Bradford co-founded Fab.com in June. An amazing site that has flash sales offering everything from toys for your pets, to furniture and everything in between.

So what's your verdict, too much color? Or do you agree that it's perfectly blended?

Slowly Being Seduced by Stripes

I hope you all had a great weekend. Sigh...it's back to school week. I don't have any kids but I since I have to pass through at least three school zones on my way to work, this means I have to leave home at least thirty minutes earlier. Can you tell I'm ecstatic?
I wish I had the chance to work from home on a full time basis.I must admit I'm not a fan of Keeping up with the Kardashians,...personally I think Mason and Khloe are the real stars of the show....lol. But, when I saw photos of Kris Jenner's office designed by Brian Patrick Flynn while checking out Jessie's blog Mix and Chic, I have to give credit where is due. The use of stripes in the office space is unexpectedly brilliant. I think that would be the perfect look for my dream home office.

From the look of these photos, I don't think office spaces are the only ones getting all striped up.

Do you think stripes are the way to go? Or are they just too much out of the box for you?
